A Stroll Through Proverbs: Proverbs 3:5-3:10

5 “(1) Trust [total commitment] in the LORD [self-Existent One, YHWH, Jehovah] with all thine heart [nothing held back]; and (2) lean [all your weight] not unto thine own understanding.

             (1) Psalm 37:3,5; (2) Jeremiah 9:23-24, Proverbs 23:4

 

6 In (3) all* thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall (4) direct thy paths [make straight or smooth].

            (3) 1 Chronicles 28:9, Philippians 4:6, James 1:5; (4) Jeremiah 10:23; *my emphasis

 

(5) Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear [reverence] the LORD, and depart from evil.

            (5) Romans 12:16

 

8 It shall be health [medicine] to thy navel [body], and (6) marrow [watering/moistening] to thy bones.

            (6) Job 21:24

 

9 Honour (7) the LORD with thy substance [wealth], and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

            (7) Exodus 23:19, Malachi 3:10

 

10 So (8) shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses [vats] shall burst out with *new wine [healthful, fresh-pressed grape juice].”
