A Stroll Through Proverbs: Proverbs 1:24-2:9

 ¶ 24 “ (1) Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

            (1)Isaiah 66:4, Jeremiah 7:13, Zechariah 7:11

25 But ye have set at (2) nought [nothing, (set at nought = ignored)] all my counsel, and would none [did not want] of my reproof:

            (2)Luke 7:30, Psalm 107:11

26 (3) I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear [terror] cometh;

            (3)Psalm 2:4

27 When (4) your fear cometh as desolation [a storm], and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress [pain and sorrow] and anguish cometh upon you.

            (4)Proverbs 10:24-25

28 (5) Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early [diligently], but they shall not find me:

            (5)1 Samuel 8:18, Job 27:9, Isaiah 1:15, Jeremiah 11:11, 14:12, Ezekiel 8:18, Psalm 18:41, Micah 3:4, James 4:3

29 (6) For that they hated knowledge, and did not (7) choose the fear of the LORD [YHWH, Jehovah]:

            (6)Job 21:14; (7)Psalm 119:173

30 (8) They would [would have] none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

            (8)Psalm 81:11

31 Therefore (9) shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices [schemes].

            (9)Job 4:8, Isaiah 3:11, Proverbs 22:8

32 For the turning [ease] away [turning away = refusal to listen, waywardness] of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity [complacency] of fools shall destroy them.

33 But whoso hearkeneth [listens] unto me shall dwell (10) safely, and (11) shall be quiet [secure, at ease] from fear of evil.”

            (10)Proverbs 3:24-26; (11)Psalm 112:7
