A Stroll Through Proverbs: Proverbs 1:1-6

 Proverbs 1:1-6

 

1. “The ^(a)Proverbs [Hebrew “parable”] of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

            ^(a)1 Kings 4:32

2. To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive [understand; discern] the words of understanding;

3. To ^(a)receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

            ^(a)Proverbs 2:1

4. To give subtilty [prudence] to the ^(a)simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion [constructive advice].

5. ^(a)A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain [get; obtain] unto wise counsels:

6. To understand a proverb, and the ^(a)interpretation [teasing; sarcastic]; the words of the wise, and their ^(b)dark sayings [puzzles].”
