What Makes an Individual a Christian - Part 2

Before proceeding let’s revisit the Introduction (revised version) of this study:

The Bible, from Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning…” to Revelation 22:21 “…Amen,” is the message about the relationship between you and God. Its message is relevant to your eternity. The Bible is God’s love letter to you. In Its entirety it points to one Person – Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Messiah and Saviour of the world. The Bible tells us: we are all sinners and cannot go to Heaven without forgiveness; Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty in full John 19:30, for every persons’ sins 1 John 2:2 through His death on the cross; you choose to accept or deny Christ as your Saviour. God made you a “volitional” being, meaning you have the free will to choose your own eternal future. God will never force you to believe in Him.

Hearing the word (being exposed to the Truth) of God is necessary to begin the journey to salvation.

While Hearing, Each Individual Must Personally Realize and Admit to Themself:

Romans 3:10-18 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 6:23a “For the wages of sin is death [eternal separation from God/spiritual death];”

Galatians 3:22a “But the scripture hath concluded all under sin,”

Revelation 20:15 “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Revelation 21:27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Until a person faces the fact that they are a sinner they will never realize their need of the Saviour.

The vast majority of this world’s population will entirely miss salvation:

Matthew 7:13 “Enter ye in at the strait gate [Jesus Christ]: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction [separation from God, Hell, lake of fire], and many there be which go in thereat;”

Matthew 7:14 “Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way [Jesus Christ; John 14:16], which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

Quiz:

1. Who are the sinners of the world?

2. What is God’s punishment for sin?

3. Will more people go to Heaven or to Hell?

4. Define the “strait gate”

5. How wide is the “way?”

6. What does John 14:16 say about Jesus Christ?
