Determining False Doctrine from Biblical Doctrine

Post 12 – Determining False Doctrine from Biblical Doctrine – 09.05.2017

Jesus Speaking in Red

A Few Verses Regarding God’s Doctrine:

Deuteronomy 32:2-4 KJV   "2 My [God’s] doctrine [precepts, teaching, instruction] shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: 3 Because I will publish the name of the LORD [Jehovah]: ascribe [give] ye greatness unto our God [Elohim, the True God]. 4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he."

Jeremiah 22:29 KJV   "29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD."

Proverbs 30:5 KJV   "5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him."

Luke 11:28 KJV   "28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it."

Luke 4:4 KJV   "4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread [physical bread] alone, but by every word of God [spiritual bread]."

John 8:31-32 KJV   "31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The Entire Word of God is Truth:

John 14:6 KJV   "6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 17:17 KJV   "17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

John 18:37 KJV  "37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."

John 8:31-32 KJV  "31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Personal Responsibility:

Acts 17:11 KJV states: “These [the people of Berea] were more noble than those in Thessalonica [the Jews who refused to believe in Jesus and His resurrection], in that they received the word [doctrine; moral precepts given by God] with all readiness of mind, and searched [examined; judged; determined] the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (My emphasis)

2 Timothy 3:16 KJV   "16 All scripture is given by inspiration [breathed out] of God [Potentate, Most High], and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

God breathed out His Word for our benefit to read, study, and learn. It reprimands error [following false doctrine], corrects us from error [corrects belief], and how to be more like the Christ [righteous].

2 Timothy 2:15 KJV   "15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

1 John 4:1 “Beloved [esteemed, dear], believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”

Isaiah 29:24 KJV   "24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine."

Divine Condemnation for Teaching or Believing False Doctrine:

Galatians 1:6-9 KJV   "6 I [Paul] marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ [anointed Son of God] unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert [to turn around/turn around] the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel* unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received [taught by Christ to the Disciples/Apostles during His humanity], let him be accursed."

Warning About False Doctrine(s):

2 John 1:9 KJV   "9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son."

Colossians 2:8 KJV   "8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."

Acts 20:29-30 KJV   "29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."

1 Timothy 4:1 KJV  "1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;"

Hebrews 13:9 KJV   "9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein."

Be Astute in Learning God’s Word and His Doctrines:

Ephesians 4:14 KJV   "14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;"

False doctrine is revealed by the Word of God and is anything or any idea(s) that differ(s) from, alters, twists, changes, nullifies, adds to, takes from, contradicts, or opposes God’s inspired message of the Gospel, or God’s way of salvation.
